Thanksgiving is upon us in the U.S. this week and that means it’s eating season! I’m planning on wearing a very forgiving knit dress to the family festivities. I’ll be pushing its limits with the mountain of mashed potatoes I plan to eat. I wish I had time to make these amazing cupcakes! Caramel turkeys are so clever and creative, I’m simply blown away.

ouch! those caramel turkeys must have hurt,
anyone here ever tried molding hot caramel?
You just mold them out of the store-bought caramel cubes, just warm them in your hand for a few minutes and they can be shaped easily.
These actually look effing disgusting.
I agree.
I’d say it’s because of the mixed signals. I think they look awesome but I don’t think I’d ever dare to eat one.
Totally what I was thinking.
Could we get the link for the recipe please?
They’re actually in a book. It’s called “what’s new cupcake?” if I remember correctly.
Ewwwww, the “stuffing” looks like cat food.
yummy, yummy catfood.
Seriously, just look at stuffing it always looks like some sort of catfood. Yum!
But I don’t eat cat food.
Or stuffing, for that matter. And it’s definitely not cute.
Whoooa, weird emote. That was supposed to be : x
looks like turkey had a shite
Wow — Bubbles — that is the exact thing I was going to say and the only reason I was going to comment. The little turkeys are well done and everything, but the stuffing looks exactly like my cat’s cat food…the kind that now comes “with greens.”
here’s the link if anyone is still interested. http://www.saucysprinkles.com/2010/10/happy-thanksgiving.html
So… this whole “thanksgiving” thing (not having celebrated it, and hoping it does not catch on here)… it’s like Halloween is it, where it started out as something different but now is just an excuse to stuff yourselves to vomiting point with food that gets wasted?
Pretty much. It’s a gluttonus American holiday supposedly celebrating our Native American neigbors and our thankfulness for them. No one really gives a crap about all that anymore, a prayer of “thanksgiving” is made with other relatives in your family, and is usually followed by acting like a complete pig.
I and my children call it “Dead Bird Day” and do not practice it.
I’m Canadian, so I don’t know how much our Thanksgiving differs from the American one (other than the date), but it’s often an excuse for family to get together. It’s timed so that students away from home and people that can’t normally get lots of days off are able to get together on the Saturday/Sunday/Monday with the rest of their family. Our Thanksgiving is an excuse to make turkey/ham/something else and have a good meal, but it’s also a chance for everyone to meet up during a busy time of year. Some families (like mine) go around the table and say what we are thankful for.
I think they’re seriously cute! I love any small-sized model things, they’re so adorable. I’d eat them.
Good artwork, but I don’t like the idea of seeing turkey and stuffing and it being a sweet treat though, but that’s just me. They look really real tho.
